In real life, Power Rangers began adapting Japanese Ranger shows (Super Sentai) with the debut of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers; prior to this, however, Super Sentai had already featured numerous Ranger teams which were never adapted into Power Rangers (until Super Megaforce, in some cases). All Super Sentai teams are listed below (using their Japanese team names as placeholders).

Legendary Modes

The Super Mega Rangers used Ranger Keys to morph into assorted "Legendary Rangers," which included previously Japanese-exclusive Super Sentai teams. Prior to the first such sentai morph (Dairanger), Gosei told the Rangers they had unlocked "new modes that [had] never been seen before on this planet"1. The term "new powers" was used several times by the Rangers while in Dairanger mode2; this wiki uses the phrase to describe teams which were featured as Legendary modes without a prior adaptation of their respective Super Sentai series.

Teams

Goranger

Goranger was not adapted, and its team (Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Green) did not appear as a Legendary Ranger mode. Notes:

  • A photo once seen in Sky's room appeared to be a group photo of the Goranger team (though in a prior close-up, the photo was shown to be a different image, of Sky and his father)3.
  • While testing a new blaster, Noah (in Jake's body) twice paired Jake's Ranger Key with a second green key resembling Goranger Green (it also bore the Goranger logo)4; this key wasn't described in dialog.
  • At the start of the Legendary Battle, a high-angle sentai shot showed the Goranger team from the back (near the center of the triangle formation, with capes)5.

JAKQ

JAKQ was not adapted, and its team (Red, Blue, Pink, Green, White) did not appear as a Legendary Ranger mode.

Q&A

Were all of the non-PR sentai teams supposed to be Power Rangers from other planets?

Possibly. Gosei's mention of modes never seen on Earth preceded only the transformation into Dairanger mode58, but the plural form of "modes" would seem to suggest at least one additional sentai mode hadn't appeared on Earth. We don't know, however, in what capacity these powers had been used off-world, if any even were.

How many of these teams were actually present during the Legendary Battle?

Dunno, maybe none? See discussion at Legendary Battle.
